[ she's felt it in the past day or so, coming back to her gradually, like when she was a teenager. it's like a void she's felt since arriving here is very slowly being refilled. she still can't move anything metallic, but even something as small as being able to sense it has been an immense relief. ]
( it was slow for him, too. his vision slowly blurring out, and not because he wasn't wearing his glasses, but because he was. hearing things outside the house, then down the street, and then farther than that.
and of course, the return of catching things and uncanny senses to put him exactly where he needs to be. )
yeah. it's not exactly like i used to be, but still it kind of reminds me when my powers first showed up, only in slow motion
well that's for sure a bonus. my senses should warn me about something like that, too? maybe?
i really don't know. i didn't do anything special, i don't think. i've just been bumming around and trying to get my bearings. i helped someone that got stuck under the frozen pond but other than that
kinda... kinda hard to explain. they warn me about bad things that are going to happen. usually i am fast enough that i can do something about knowing that it's gonna happen but uh, that part hasn't come back yet
Honestly? I didn't trust the police to do anything about it. I don't know if you remember anything from Halloween, but there were things like razors and poison in the candy. We tried calling to report it and got told to knock it off with the crank calling.
There was a guy who came by when I tried to knock one of the snowmen over. He helped me take it out.
i guess, but dead body is a completely different scale of police inaction. whoever that was has to have had a family, right? and now they'll never know what happened.
[Sans spends most mornings sleeping--he tries to sleep as late as possible basically all the time. But this time he's up and dressed (in a Hawaiian shirt and completely unmatching smoking jacket, but good enough) and everything.]
Hey, I found something weird the other day in that police chief guy's wallet.
[ lorna, in contrast, isn't comfortable with the idea of falling asleep here and doesn't sleep any more than she absolutely has to. sometimes this results in her not actually getting the amount of sleep she really needs, and sans finds her in the kitchen sort of slumped over a cup of coffee that's as strong as she could have made it.
she would disagree about it not being an appropriate start to a conversation. it grabs her attention and perks her up immediately, and she sets her coffee down and leans forward with interest. ]
[Sans drops into one of the open seats at the table across from Lorna.] A photo of a couple kids in Halloween costumes. I put it back, 'cause I didn't want to deal with him going lookin' for it if he noticed, but the picture was really old, right? But I checked out pictures of the costumes here and those costumes should be recent.
He was asleep in his car in the park the other day. But like, an alcohol nap, so he might as well've been out cold. [Sans shrugs.] When I was looking at the picture I was kinda worried just touching it might make it fall to pieces, so pretty old.
I don't know. Do you remember how fast those snowmen were appearing? Like if you turned and looked back, two more would appear to join the first one. I looked them over and I couldn't see any way they could have died.
isn't that all the more reason to get the police involved? look i don't love the police either, but a huge pile of bodies with no obvious cause of death? an autopsy might give clues on how they died, or help figure out who did that
maybe not, i know everybody is pretty suspect around here, just... i dunno. even if it was pointless, i think it'd have been worth it to try.
[ lorna's eyebrows go up, though she's more impressed than shocked. though the fact that he'd mentioned the picture looking old and fragile enough to fall apart is what's really interesting. ]
The kids in the picture didn't look familiar, did they? [ were they the kids from halloween is her real question, but she figures she doesn't have to elaborate on that. ]
Nah, but one had half a mask on and the other had a whole mask on. [So if he saw them walking down the street in regular clothes it would be hard to identify them.] All the kids from October are still--well, whatever you count as when you get turned into a zombie, so it could be them, but I don't know who they were.
[ look, burying the body wasn't her idea, she just didn't have a better one. crowley seemed to know what he was doing and she doesn't trust this place, aside from those who don't belong here. ]
I'll keep it in mind if I come across another dead body, I swear. In the meantime I'm not even positive what we found was human.
I don't remember names. [ she wishes she did, but details regarding everything go between vivid and fuzzy to her, as if everything actually was a dream in spite of people remembering the contrary. ]
Pretty gusty of you to look through his wallet. Did he even stir?
I could smell the alcohol from outside the car. He might as well've been out cold. Not that I tried shakin' him awake or anything. [It was very convenient for him, although you probably shouldn't be anywhere near a car in that state.]
@PARKOUR
is, uh... did you notice something different? recently?
( is that too vague??? considering their last conversation, he doesn't think so. )
@polaris
Yeah, I have. What about you?

What do you think happened?

i really don't know. i didn't do anything special, i don't think. i've just been bumming around and trying to get my bearings. i helped someone that got stuck under the frozen pond but other than that
does this mean it'll all come back?
no subject
I didn't either. I helped hide a body. I've tried to acclimate. Should we ask what others have done, or if they've noticed things coming back?
I don't know. I hope so.
no subject
also, wait a second, you HID a BODY???
no subject
[ a few seconds later after reading that back: ]
Ones that were already dead when we found them, not ones we killed ourselves.
no subject
but wait, why did you hide it, instead of reporting it?

Interesting how? What'd you find?
no subject
[Unless it's been 1961 for a while, anyway.]
no subject
How old, do you think? Like a few years, a decade?
[ something else he'd said strikes her, and she frowns a little. ]
Wait, how'd you get a look at what was in his wallet?
